Principal's Message

Dear Hosler Parents/Guardians and Students,

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.  It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year.  This is such an exciting time because students are scheduled to start this year in-person. Here are a few items you need to be aware of prior to the beginning of the new school year.

Staffing
Due to the moving of Lynwood High School back to its original location on Bullis, several Lynwood Middle School staff (including myself) will now call Hosler home.  This is a fantastic time to merge the strengths of new staff members with the existing school personnel to make our school a place everyone can call HOME.  There will be more information coming on our website and social media page @hosler_lions regarding our staff.

Great Elective Options
In addition to our engaging core classes at HMS, we will continue to offer existing courses such as App Creators, Entomology, Military,  Introduction to Engineering, Leadership, etc.  However, there will be new offerings such as Art, Computer Science, Drama, and Human Anatomy.  Also, students who signed up for the STEM Academy will be able to take Robotics, Medical Detectives, etc.  Finally, our students will be able to experience our new Paxton Patterson labs that will provide additional career pathway enrichment.

Student Involvement
Giving students an opportunity to have a say in what goes on at their school is so essential to their development as scholars.   We are very fortunate to have an ASB (Associated Student Body) program at our school site.  This entity plays a major role in generating school spirit through clubs and other activities.  Being part of ASB will help reinforce our PBIS pillars of Being Responsible, Respectful and Safe, as well as building leadership skills that can endure for a lifetime.  All interested students should contact Ms. Bode or Ms. Polk for more information.

Parent Participation
At HMS, we have a variety of ways our parents can support their child's academic growth. Some of the opportunities include:  School Site Council (SSC), School Advisory Council (SAC), English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC), Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS).  Additionally, we have our Coffee with the Principal sessions on a monthly basis where we discuss school highlights, upcoming events and other topics as they relate to our school community.

Our staff is very excited about the year and look forward to the memorable experiences on the horizon.  If you need anything from us, please contact us at 310-603-1447.

We are here for you!

Sincerely,

Mr. Terry
Hosler Middle School Principal
