Welcome

I am excited to welcome our Hosler families back to the 2020-2021 school year. It has been my honor to serve our students, their families and the community of Lynwood for what will be my third year as Principal.  Our parents and their involvement in our organized committees has made all the difference. Please refer to the Hosler Middle School website to learn more about how our parents can be a part of our school committees and activities.

Although these are challenging times, Hosler Middle School remains committed to providing our students with quality instruction via Distance Learning. We will continue to offer programs and activities that will help prepare them for high school and beyond. We also understand that in these unprecedented times, our students may be experiencing an array of feelings beyond those that are normally associated with adolescents and the middle school age years.  Now more than ever, communication and collaboration between our parents, staff and students  will be critical. If there should ever be a concern please do not hesitate to reach out to our teachers, staff or administration. Together we can find solutions that can ensure our students' social-emotional needs are met and they stay on track towards meeting their educational goals.

Hosler teachers are committed to serving our students.  Our new way of engaging in the learning process in the form of Distance Learning is a new way of instruction for our teachers and they have stepped up to the challenge.  Teaching with the use of technology can enhance the learning experience in many ways.  However, as with anything new and especially with technology, we are bound to hit some glitches.  We ask for your patience when these glitches occur.  We will work diligently to resolve the problem as soon as it is possible. In addition, our dedicated staff will meet regularly throughout the year to collaborate on instruction, technology and programming to better meet the needs of all students.
The middle school years are a critical and a transitional time for students. As students begin to develop independence, Hosler Middle School helps guide our students to make good decisions and choices by implementing our school’s core values: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe including while engaging in Distance Learning.  Please refer to your student’s classroom syllabus or refer to the student handbook for details.

In an effort to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students, their families, our staff, and the community, we are asking that our students and their families follow the safety guidelines established by the Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles County Health Department to prevent the spread of COVID19 whenever on school campus. Please wear a face covering when in public; including when on the Hosler campus. Wash your hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds. Finally, practice social distancing of 6 feet whenever possible.  We are in this together!

Wishing all our families a healthy and safe start of the new school year and beyond.

Sincerely,
Celinna Pinelo
Principal, Hosler Middle School
